BY SUBMITTING, YOU AGREE YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND, AND WILL ABIDE BY THESE CONTEST RULES AND REQUIREMENTS.
1. Eligibility. This “Cashmere on Ice” Contest (“Contest”) is open to all eligible persons who are legal residents of the 50 United States, Canada (excluding Quebec), the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry. The Contest is void outside of these countries.
Persons outside of the eligible countries may submit their works to be featured in the Gallery, but will not be considered eligible for the Contest due to local rules.
The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
2. Contest Dates and Deadlines.
· Entry period for submissions opens – 10 am MT on April 22, 2025
· Entry period closes – by 5 pm MT on September 1, 2025
· Finalists announced – by September 15, 2025
· Voting for People’s Choice Award – opens September 16, 2025, and closes on October 15, 2025
· Finalist items must be received by mail – by October 15, 2025
· Winners announced – no later than November 25, 2025
3. Submission and Project Requirements. There is no limit to the number of items each person may make and submit, but each item may be submitted to the Gallery or Contest once. Long Thread Media reserves the right to reject any entry submitted to the Contest that does not meet eligibility criteria or requirements.
3a. Gallery Only Submissions (“Gallery”): Must include some cashmere in their Entries, and use a traditional fiber art such as knitting, embroidery, weaving, crochet, needlework, or felting. Items may include millspun cashmere or cashmere blends, handspun yarn, or loose fiber. Only your original work may be submitted. There is no compensation or award associated with submitting to the Gallery.
3b. Official Contest Submissions: To be eligible for the Contest, each submitted entry must meet these minimum requirements to be judged: 1. All items/projects must be your original work. Compositions based on published material or other artists’ work are NOT considered original and are not eligible.
2. Items must be made of a minimum of 50% cashmere and must be made up of 100% natural fiber or materials, and may include millspun cashmere or cashmere blends, handspun yarn, or loose fiber.
3. Items must be handmade using a traditional fiber art such as knitting, embroidery, weaving, crochet, needlework, or felting.
4. Each entry must meet the requirements for one or more of the Prize Categories as outlined below.
4. Contest Prize Categories. Each item submitted may be able to be judged in multiple categories, but only categories where that item meets the requirements, as set forth below:
1. Best Wearable: Awarded to the best garment or accessory (including headcoverings, handcoverings, socks, and bags that a person of any age can wear). This must be a finished project to be eligible.
2. Best Art or Décor: Awarded to an item used to decorate a home or other space, an art piece, or other item not suitable to be worn on a person.
3. The Best of Ladakh: Awarded to an item comprising at least 50% cashmere sourced from the Ladakh region of the High Himalayas.
4. People’s Choice: Awarded to a qualifying finalist that receives the most votes between September 16, 2025, and October 15, 2025. One vote per person, per email address, will be allowed during the open voting period. Information on accessing this voting system will be available on https://cashmere.longthreadmedia.com no later than September 16, 2025.
5. How to Enter. During the Entry Period, visit the Contest registration page located on Sponsor’s website at https://cashmere.longthreadmedia.com/ and follow the instructions to complete and submit the Contest entry form electronically.
There is no limit to the number of items you may submit to the Gallery or Contest, but you may only submit each item once, and on the entry form, you will be able to indicate the category(ies) you wish to enter that item into. Multiple submissions for the same item will be removed and may be disqualified.
Along with project information, you will be asked to provide basic contact information, including your name, phone number, zip code, and email address. (NOTE: You must complete all entry form fields to be eligible).
Each submission must be accompanied by at least 1 digital photo. Remember that the judges will use your submitted photo(s) to determine the finalists. Photos must be uploaded as PNG or JPG files (please try to keep the file size under 5 MB to ensure proper uploading).
Submission of an item to the form constitutes permission that the photos and description of that item may be shown and/or described by Long Thread Media, Wild Fibers, and Contest sponsors on webpages and/or social media. Due to local rules, people outside of the eligible locations can submit to be featured in the Gallery but will not be considered eligible to win in the Contest.
6. Limitations on Entries. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PROJECT OR ELIGIBLE ITEM. For each item, you may indicate the category(ies) for which each item should be considered for on the entry form. Any person who attempts or otherwise encourages the entry of multiple or false contact information under multiple identities or uses any device or artifice to enter or encourage multiple or false Entries, as determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified.
7. Finalist and Winner Selection. Entries will be juried, and finalists will be chosen by the editorial staff of Long Thread Media and Wild Fibers. All eligible and properly prepared Entries will be viewed and judged. Finalists will be notified by September 15, 2025.
Projects and items selected as finalists must be available to be shipped to Fort Collins, CO for final judging and photography and must arrive no later than October 15, 2025. Items will be mailed to at the entrant’s expense, and mailed back at the Sponsor’s expense after winner’s are announced and confirmed.
Finalist Entries that have been received by mail by October 15 will be judged by Anne Merrow and Linda Ligon, who will determine final winners in the three main categories (People’s Choice will be awarded to the item with the most votes).
All decisions by Long Thread Media and judges are final, and they reserve the right to reject or reclassify any Entries. The results will not otherwise be made public until they are published on our website on this page. Non-winning entrants will not be individually notified of the results.
8. Prizes. Prizes* are non-transferable, and no substitution or cash equivalent is permitted. Winner is responsible for federal, state, and local taxes, if applicable. Each prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied, by Sponsor or its affiliates.
*Prizes include sponsored prizes from Knit Pro and June Cashmere, a $500 cash prize, and more! The final prizes for each category will be announced here no later than the opening of the entry period on April 22, 2025.
If winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with Contest rules, winner will be disqualified, and an alternate winner may be awarded the prize. Finalists will be notified by email and given shipping instructions. Winners will be notified by email. Inability of Sponsor to contact any finalist or winner by email within seven (7) days after selection may result in disqualification of winner, and an alternate winner may be selected at Sponsor’s discretion. Prize will be sent to winner by U.S. mail within thirty (30) days after winner has been notified and accepted the prize. If prize is returned as undeliverable, then prize will be forfeited.
9. Sponsorship. The Contest sponsor is Long Thread Media (“Sponsor”), located at 1300 Riverside Avenue Ste 206, Fort Collins, CO 80524. Sponsor and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, and employees, and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration, judging, or fulfillment of the Contest, including, without limitation, the immediate family members of such individuals, are not eligible to participate. Sponsor will conduct the Contest substantially as described in these Official Rules.
10. General Terms. By entering this Contest, you promise to abide by the Official Rules and decisions of Sponsor, which will be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse, disqualify, or withdraw any Entry at any time. Sponsor will not be responsible for any injury, damage, or loss of any kind arising out of your participation in the Contest. YOU AGREE TO RELEASE, DISCHARGE, AND HOLD HARMLESS SPONSOR, ITS AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS AND ASSIGNS FROM AND AGAINST ANY OR ALL CLAIMS, LOSSES, INJURIES, OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST.
Except where prohibited by law, by accepting a prize, winner grants the Sponsor a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use photographs of the winning item and the winner’s name, picture, voice, and/or likeness without further authorization, compensation, or remuneration of any kind for advertising, promotion, and other publicity purposes in any media now or hereafter known throughout the world.
WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON, WHETHER OR NOT AN ENTRANT, TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE, DESTROY, TAMPER WITH OR VANDALIZE ANY SPONSOR-OWNED WEBSITE, THE ENTRY PROCESS, OR OTHERWISE INTERFERE WITH OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST, MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND DILIGENTLY PURSUE ALL REMEDIES AGAINST ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
